Ingredients (4 sandwiches)
For the sandwiches
- 4 hoagie rolls or sub rolls
- 1/2 lb sliced salami
- 1/2 lb sliced deli ham
- 1/2 lb sliced turkey or pepperoni
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- Sliced tomato
- Thin sliced red onion
- Banana peppers
- Optional: shredded lettuce for extra crunch
For the grinder salad
- 4 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Pinch salt
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp pepperoncini juice (optional but highly recommended)
Instructions
1. Toast the sandwiches
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Slice rolls open.
- Layer meats and provolone on each roll.
- Bake 5 to 7 minutes until cheese is melted and bread is lightly crisp.
2. Make the grinder salad
In a bowl combine:
- shredded lettuce
- mayo
- vinegar
- Italian seasoning
- garlic powder
- parmesan
- pepper
- pepperoncini juice
Mix until creamy and coated.
3. Assemble
Top hot sandwiches with:
- grinder salad
- tomato
- red onion
- banana peppers
Serve immediately.
